About Kent Business College

Kent Business College (KBC) is a fast-growing, Ofsted-regulated training provider delivering high-quality apprenticeships and professional qualifications across Project Control, Project Management, Marketing, and Business disciplines.

As part of our next growth phase and Ofsted readiness strategy, we are recruiting an experienced Ofsted Quality Manager to lead our internal quality assurance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure full compliance with Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and DfE funding rules.

Purpose of the Role

The Apprenticeship Ofsted Quality Manager will lead KBC’s quality assurance strategy and ensure all apprenticeship programmes meet or exceed Ofsted and DfE expectations.

This includes ownership of the Self-Assessment Report (SAR), Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), internal quality cycle, teaching and learning audits, and preparation for Ofsted inspection.

The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring someone who can lead mock inspections, train staff, analyse performance data, and drive cultural change towards excellence.

Key Responsibilities1. Ofsted Preparation and Quality Framework

* Lead the college’s Ofsted inspection readiness under the Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
* Maintain and continually update the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
* Conduct mock deep dives, curriculum intent reviews, and learning walks to ensure KBC meets inspection standards.
* Advise the Managing Director and Curriculum Leads on key improvement priorities in preparation for inspection.

2. Quality Assurance and Improvement

* Oversee KBC’s Quality Assurance Strategy for apprenticeships and ensure consistent application across all standards.
* Develop and maintain the annual Quality Cycle, ensuring timely audits, observations, and reviews are completed.
* Conduct teaching, learning, and assessment observations and provide developmental feedback to tutors and coaches.
* Coordinate internal standardisation and moderation activities to ensure consistency of assessment and feedback.
* Use learner progress and achievement data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

3. Regulatory Compliance and Governance

* Ensure compliance with ESFA funding rules, Ofsted EIF, Ofqual, and awarding body standards.
* Lead on internal audit processes for learner files, APTEM records, and ILR data accuracy.
* Work closely with the Compliance Manager to maintain robust evidence for funding and audit purposes.
* Ensure that all delivery complies with KBC’s Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality & Diversity, and British Values policies.

4. Staff Development and Performance

* Provide training and CPD for delivery staff on Ofsted expectations, pedagogy, assessment, and feedback.
* Support new tutors, assessors, and coaches in understanding KBC’s quality expectations and standards.
* Lead quality meetings, disseminate good practice, and monitor progress against action plans.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring, and constructive challenge.

5. Monitoring, Reporting and Analysis

* Produce regular Quality Performance Reports for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governance Board.
* Track learner progression, achievement rates, employer feedback, and learner voice data.
* Analyse data to identify risks or patterns in retention, progress, or achievement.
* Present recommendations and improvement plans with measurable outcomes.

6. Safeguarding, Welfare and Learner Experience

* Act as a deputy DSL (if qualified) and support safeguarding audits.
* Ensure safeguarding, Prevent, and wellbeing are embedded throughout curriculum delivery.
* Oversee learner feedback mechanisms (surveys, focus groups, exit interviews) and implement responsive improvements.
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all teaching and learning practices.

Key Deliverables (First 12 Months)

* Fully implemented Quality Assurance and Improvement Framework.
* Up-to-date and Ofsted-ready SAR and QIP.
* Completion of at least two rounds of teaching observations and feedback sessions.
* Internal mock inspection conducted with measurable improvement actions.

* Demonstrable improvements in learner satisfaction and progress tracking metrics.
