HOURS: 12 hours per week

LOCATION: 102 Haypark Avenue, Belfast,BT7 3FF

SUMMARY

Village Church South Belfast desires to be a Gospel-shaped community of people who love Jesus, each other, and our city of Belfast as we join God in the renewal of all things.

Launched in October 2018, our church has grown steadily and we are now seeking someone to oversee and lead our children’s ministry. In this role, you will be responsible for communicating the vision for the ministry, recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, coordinating the Sunday teaching curriculum, and leading children’s outreach initiatives in the wider community.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Communicate and develop the vision for children’s ministry in alignment with the wider church vision.
* Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to serve in various aspects of the ministry.
* Coordinate and oversee the Sunday morning teaching curriculum for children.
* Ensure the children’s ministry is a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for all ages.
* Build relationships with parents and support them in discipling their children.
* Plan and lead children’s outreach initiatives in the local community.
* Work closely with church leadership to integrate children into the life of the church.
* Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are upheld at all times.
* Participation in weekly staff meetings.


PERSON SPECIFICATION – ESSENTIAL

* Experience of working with children, either in a voluntary or professional capacity.
* A heart for helping children understand, relate to, and worship God.
* A committed Christian with a healthy walk with God.
* Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
* Enthusiasm for the local church and its mission.
* High level of personal organisation and time management.


PERSON SPECIFICATION – DESIRABLE

* Experience leading or coordinating a children’s ministry or similar team.
* Relevant training or qualification in children’s ministry, education, or safeguarding.
* Familiarity with Christian teaching resources or curriculum planning.
* Experience working or serving in a church context.


FURTHER DETAILS

This is a part-time role, intended at 12 hours per week, with flexibility to discuss alternative hours (minimum 8 hours). The role includes Sunday morning availability for preparing rooms, overseeing groups, and connecting with families. While some hours will be based at the church office, there is flexibility in working arrangements. Please note there is a genuine Occupational Requirement that the post holder is a committed Evangelical Christian.
