About the Role
We are seeking a Cook-Coxswain for one of our 24-metre power training vessels based in Gosport, Hampshire. The vessel conducts 6-day coastal voyages around the UK and near continent, carrying up to 12 cadets aged 12-18 years. The role involves catering for up to 18 crew members, managing food stores, and overseeing ship routine, cadet administration, morale, safeguarding, welfare, and discipline.
Essential requirements include catering experience, knowledge of working with young people, qualifications in food hygiene, first aid, and a RYA Level 2 powerboat license. Good communication skills and high emotional intelligence are also necessary.
Applicants should hold or be willing to obtain a current Seafarer Medical Certificate. Training in ship systems, child safeguarding, and sea safety will be provided. Flexibility in working hours is required, with work hours within Maritime Labour Convention 2006 standards. Holiday arrangements accommodate the uncertain nature of work hours.

Key Responsibilities
1. Plan menus and order supplies, considering dietary restrictions and allergies.
2. Prepare and cook food.
3. Manage onboard food and medical supplies.
4. Organize food service, including supervising cadets in domestic duties.
5. Maintain cleanliness of galley, pantry, and food storage areas.
6. Assist with cleaning below decks.
7. Operate as ship’s Helm and tender helm as needed.
8. Serve as the ship’s principal First Aider.
9. Handle administrative paperwork for visiting personnel.
10. Maintain discipline and welfare of cadet crew.
11. Assist with ship husbandry and maintenance tasks.
