Overview
The Ministry of Justice People and Capability (MoJ P&C) supports the organisation by enabling its people to be the best that they can be. We continuously review and enhance the services that P&C provide across the MoJ to deliver high‑quality services for our customers. With a passion for people management and a desire to build an HR generalist foundation for a future career, the post holder will work with managers from within HMPPS to optimise the effective working relationship and ensure maximum impact of HR on business effectiveness. This role enables prisons and probation to make society safer and helps people turn their lives around.
Responsibilities
* Support an area of the business with wide ranging impact – appraise, assess and adapt to a wide range of issues on a day‑to‑day basis.
* Deploy appropriate resources using initiative and communicate with an established network of contacts across the wider HR community.
* Interpret HR advice, follow up questions or discussion to understand the wider impact of the issue.
* Analyse HR data and decide on an appropriate intervention or course of action.
* Exercise judgement and make decisions based on own interpretation, maintaining relationships and contributing to operational organisational objectives.

Qualifications & Experience
* Completed and achieved Chartered MCIPD (or willing to work towards it) and actively demonstrate continuous professional development.
* Previous experience of an HR delivery role and ability to manage a diverse range of relationships with senior stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to analyse and understand data and apply analytics to business delivery.
* Strong knowledge of case management and essential functional HR experience.

Working Arrangements & Further Information
Hybrid working arrangements are available where business need allows. Minimum of 60% of working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity. Remote work is permissible in the UK only. Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week. MoJ welcomes part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns where they meet the demands of the role and business needs. MoJ’s flexible working system is available in many offices.
