The Lady Accountant is a growing accountancy firm with a modern approach to supporting businesses. Alongside accountancy services, we are expanding our offering to include HR support for our clients — helping them build strong people foundations to grow with confidence.
We're now looking for an HR Manager to lead the development of this function, working both internally and externally to deliver HR expertise, create practical solutions, and build lasting client relationships.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a brand-new HR service line within the firm. You'll play a key role in building HR processes, creating templates and frameworks, and offering hands-on guidance to our clients. At the same time, you'll develop and implement internal HR practices to support our growing team.
Key Responsibilities
• Build and develop HR templates, processes, and frameworks for use across client businesses.
• Provide outsourced HR advice and guidance to clients, developing trusted long-term relationships.
• Act as the first point of contact for client HR queries, offering clear, practical solutions.
• Partner with clients to design people-focused strategies around culture, engagement, and compliance.
• Establish and grow the HR function within The Lady Accountant, supporting internal needs as well.
• Ensure compliance with HR legislation and best practice across client work.
• Lead and mentor a small team, with opportunities to grow as the HR service expands.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
• A true "people person" who thrives on building client relationships.
• Experienced in HR operations and comfortable advising on a wide range of HR issues.
• Skilled at creating HR templates, policies, and frameworks that are practical and easy to use.
• Confident, proactive, and able to balance multiple client needs with internal development.
• Comfortable working in a fast-growing, client-focused environment.
• CIPD qualified (or working towards) is desirable but not essential.
What We Offer
• Competitive salary of £50,000 – £60,000.
• The opportunity to build and lead a new HR function from the ground up.
• A client-facing role with plenty of scope for relationship building and impact.
• Career progression as the HR service line grows.
• A collaborative, supportive, and forward-thinking team culture.
