TOTEX Site Manager - Civil Operations — Salary from £53,539 (in line with the TOTEX Site Manager Progression Framework) + £6,500 per annum company car/cash allowance. Up to 10% bonus as part of the TOTEX Site Manager Incentive Scheme. 41.25 hours work pattern over 7 days. One position available across the NGN Network. Start Date - 12th January 2026.
The TOTEX Site Manager – Civil Operations plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of civil engineering projects across NGN’s network. This position is central to maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, delivering excellent customer experiences, and driving continuous improvement in civil engineering practices.
As a key line manager within NGN’s Capital Delivery function, you will report directly to the TOTEX Business & Programme Assurance Manager. You will contribute to the tactical direction of NGN’s civil operations, including Site Civil, Groundworks, and the in-house Special Operations team, covering a broad range of civil engineering activities.
A full UK driving licence is essential. The role involves travel across NGN’s operational area, including major cities such as Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds, York, Hull, and Bradford, as well as rural regions like North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Lead Civil Project Delivery by overseeing the planning, execution, and safe completion of construction projects across the network
* Resource & Equipment Management by managing the selection and requisition of materials and plant equipment to support project needs
* Cost & Design Oversight by developing cost-effective solutions and managing projects in line with NGN design specifications and contract documents
* Stakeholder Coordination by liaising with clients, subcontractors, quantity surveyors, and project managers to ensure smooth collaboration
* Technical Support & Problem Solving by providing on-site technical guidance and resolving engineering challenges as they arise
* Compliance & Quality Control by ensuring all project packages meet agreed specifications, budgets, and timelines, with a strong focus on health, safety, and quality standards
* Team Leadership & Reporting by delegating tasks to site staff, monitoring performance, and completing site reports and required documentation
What we are looking for
* Proven experience delivering civil construction projects such as concreting, fencing, groundworks, and reinstatement
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and coordinate daily site operations
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
* Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, regulations, and health & safety standards
* Skilled in budgeting, cost control, and financial planning throughout project lifecycles
* Analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to make informed decisions quickly
* Highly organised with attention to detail and flexibility to adapt to changing project needs
Qualifications & Requirements
* Relevant qualifications and certifications (e.g. SMSTS, NEBOSH, NRSWA, deep excavation) and ideally educated to HNC/HND level
