As Researcher Developer your primary responsibility will be to shape postgraduate research student training for the Graduate and Researcher College, as well as contributing to its delivery in key development sessions. The Graduate and Researcher College's training provision covers the Researcher Development Programme, Supervisor training and the introduction to University teaching sessions for Graduate Teaching Assistants.
You will help advise the Director on the development and implementation of the University's strategic objectives for graduate research at Kent, to sustain an excellent postgraduate training offer as part of the wider student experience across the University's campuses and centres.
As Researcher Developer you can expect to be involved in:
* Designing, reviewing and delivering the University's training provision for postgraduate research students
* Contributing to the Researcher Development Programme through the development and delivery of core components, providing continuous review to ensure that it is innovative and delivers a high-quality postgraduate experience in line with external expectations (UK Quality Code for HE, Vitae Researcher Development Framework, UKRI Expectations for Doctoral Training)
* Establishing strong links with Schools and postgraduate research students to review the current level of skills training on offer so that enhancements to provision can be made and best practice shared.
What will you bring to the role?
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* A coaching qualification or working towards a qualification or equivalent, with evidence of having developed high-quality, learning materials which meet the needs of current postgraduate researchers
* Demonstrated experience in reviewing and evaluating existing programmes/sessions, with the ability to critically reflect and propose informed improvements to their design and delivery
* Knowledge of PGR Supervision in relation to the wider higher education landscape
* The ability to research external and internal organisations and communities to benchmark and improve performance and procedures.
