We are looking for a Data Architect, who is agile and innovative to lead the Patient Solutions Data Foundations team, based in Slough, UK (Windlesham, Surrey 2027), Braine l’Alleud, Belgium or Boston, US.
About the role
You will play a key role in shaping how data is structured, governed, and used across the organisation. You will define standards for data and metadata, enabling scalable, high-quality data foundations that support research, innovation, and AI-driven insights.
Who you’ll work with
Reporting to the Head of Digital Strategy & Innovation, you will collaborate with scientific leaders across Research and Early Development. You will also partner closely with Digital Technology and Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure alignment across systems and platforms.
What you’ll do
1. Define and govern enterprise ontologies and identifiers to ensure consistent and traceable data across the organisation
2. Implement scalable metadata management processes to improve data quality, lineage, and discoverability
3. Lead adoption of AI tools to automate metadata extraction and improve knowledge management
4. Partner with data owners to embed standards at the point of data creation
5. Design and refine scalable data models aligned to research and business needs
6. Develop data products supporting priority programmes and strategic use cases.
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
7. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, or related field
8. Experience in enterprise data architecture, metadata governance, and data modelling
9. Strong understanding of structured and unstructured data management
10. Experience applying AI-driven approaches to data or metadata management
11. Ability to work across complex environments and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
12. Relevant certifications (e.g. DAMA, TOGAF, CDMP) are a plus
