Graduate Learning Mentor – Gateshead Secondary Schools

Milk Education is currently working with a number of secondary schools in Gateshead, seeking to appoint enthusiastic and committed Graduate Learning Mentors for the upcoming academic year (September 2025 – July 2026), with both full-time and part-time opportunities available.
The Role – Graduate Learning Mentor:
As a Graduate Learning Mentor, you will provide both academic and pastoral support to students who may require additional guidance to reach their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and inclusion teams to support pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, or within classroom settings.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are considering a PGCE, Schools Direct, or any future role in education, youth work, or mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted support and intervention sessions to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Assist in the classroom with general teaching duties and behaviour management.
Provide mentoring to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve progress.
Support with lesson delivery and potentially lead small group or cover sessions.
Build positive relationships with pupils and staff to foster a productive learning environment.
Track student progress and communicate with school staff as needed.

Sport & Physical Activity
Requirements:
A UK degree (2:2 or above) in any subject listed above.
A genuine interest in working with secondary-aged pupils.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Previous experience with young people (paid or voluntary) is beneficial but not essential.
Able to provide at least two references from the past two years.
Willingness to undertake CPD and relevant training.
