ROLE DESCRIPTION

Newcastle College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Lead Learning Mentor to join a passionate team who are dedicated to supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning.
As a Lead Learning Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a team of learning mentors ensuring effective pastoral support is implemented for various curriculum areas, implementing mentoring for students and coordinating delivery of personal development key topics.
Your role will involve coordinating support for looked after children, care leavers, and young carers. You will collaborate closely with curriculum teams to support learners identified as ‘at risk.’ Additionally, you will manage referrals and allocate support within your designated area. Overseeing HR processes, including recruitment and performance management, will be part of your responsibilities. You will also liaise with external agencies to provide additional support for students and develop and deliver training to colleagues to enhance student support.
As the successful candidate, you will be an enthusiastic and adaptable person, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to inclusive education. You will demonstrate within application that you have a qualification or training in leadership or management along with Level 2 English & Maths, a good general education to level 3 or equivalent and be able to work flexibly, including evening work, and supporting at our off‑site provision.
