This is a great opportunity for nurses who would like to work within the maternity recovery and theatre setting on labour ward at St Mary's Hospital.
The role entails providing care to women and babies in the maternity recovery area following surgical procedures.
The post holder will assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programs of care for individual women/birthing people and provide support to students/learners within the unit.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide care to women and their families in the maternity recovery area and operating theatre.
2. Assesses care needs and develops implements and evaluates programmes of care to individual needs of the clients.
3. Prepares and assembles theatre equipment and instruments
4. Responsible for maintaining asepsis intraoperative.
5. Ensures safety of the recovery environment including stock levels and storage of equipment and support the theatre team with environment.
6. Provides support to students/learners within the unit.
7. Works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team members in maintaining policies and standards of individualised care related to perioperative and postoperative management.

8. Registered nurse > 1year
9. Evidence of continuous professional development
10. Basic Life Support

12. Post anaesthetic course or experience
13. Advanced life support

15. Able to demonstrate knowledge of clinical role in maternity recovery
16. Care of the deteriorating patient
17. Previous ward experience

18. Experience in recovery/HDU
19. Use of MEOWS
20. Familiar with PCA/epidurals for pain relief
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
21. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
22. Competent in computer/IT skills

24. Venepuncture and cannulation
