Applicant must have level 2 and preferably level 3 food hygiene.
Applicant must have knowledge of food allergies
Applicant must have some experience in running a kitchen and cooking for larger numbers.
Experience of cooking for children is desirable.
Main responsibilities:
* To prepare, cook and present age appropriate food to a high quality in a clean, tidy, safe and pleasant environment.
* To ensure responsibility for the effective daily management of the nursery kitchen.
* To keep accurate records of supplies and order replacements as needed within the nursery budget requirements.
* To follow health and safety guidelines and food safety guidelines.
Main activities:
* Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment at all times.
* To prepare and cook enough age appropriate food for all children with minimum waste.
* To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and food hygiene.
* To ensure that the legal requirements for fire safety, health and hygiene are met at all times and necessary paperwork is completed.
* Take responsibility for all dietary requirements and clearly communicating these to staff.
* Support, promote and implement policies as appropriate in your job role.
* Encourage a healthy and nutritious diet.
* Ensure you have a working knowledge of health and safety, COSHH & risk assessments.
* Work with suppliers and ensure that the products and supplies are appropriate for a nursery environment.
* To be responsible for any inspections relating to the kitchen such as environmental health.
* Check the kitchen daily and remove or report any hazards or potential hazards.
* To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery's aims and objectives.
