Freelance Senior Site Manager / Project Manager – Residential Groundworks. Start: March 2026. Duration: 8 - 10 months. Sheffield.
My Client are seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Site Manager / Project Manager to take full control of a major residential groundworks package starting March 2026, for a 10-month contract. This is a No.1 on site position, responsible for the successful delivery of groundworks and civils on a large-scale housing development.
The Project
* Residential development of approximately 120 housing units
* Full groundworks and civils package
* Piled foundations and precast ring beams
* Roads and sewers
Key Responsibilities
* Acting as Number 1 on site, overseeing daily site operations
* Managing all groundworks and civils activities
* Coordination of piled foundations and precast ring beam installation
* Managing roads and sewers packages
* Ordering materials and maintaining a materials tracker
* Managing and tracking RFIs
* Leading and managing a site team of around 12 personnel, including a Site Engineer
* Client liaison, attending and leading client meetings
* Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to quality standards
* Coordinating subcontractors and suppliers
* Reporting progress and issues to senior stakeholders
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager on residential groundworks projects
* Strong background in civils, piling, and infrastructure works
* Experience operating as No.1 on site
* Confident managing site teams and subcontractors
* Strong client-facing and communication skills
* SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold) required
* First Aid certification required
