Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Site Manager on a permanent basis based in the South West. Role Summary The Site Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of our projects on the NGED network. The role involves managing site-based activities, supervising operational staff and subcontractors, and ensuring all works are delivered in line with NGED standards, programme requirements, and our health, safety, quality, and environmental policies. Key Responsibilities · Manage day-to-day site operations on NGED projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. · Act as the principal site representative for us, liaising with NGED representatives, project managers, control rooms, and other stakeholders. · Plan, coordinate, and supervise site teams, including fitters, wiremen, jointers, and subcontractors. · Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with NGED policies, procedures, and technical standards. · Prepare, review, and implement RAMS, work packs, programmes, and method statements. · Ensure appropriate permits, isolations, and safety documentation are in place before work starts. · Monitor site progress, productivity, and quality, reporting regularly to the Project Manager. · Manage site resources, materials, plant, and equipment to meet programme and cost targets. · Ensure accurate completion of site records, daily diaries, permits, test sheets, and as-built documentation. · Identify and manage site risks, issues, and change, escalating where necessary. · Support outage planning, commissioning activities, and handover to NGED. · Promote our values and maintain professional standards on all sites. · Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) · Take overall responsibility for health and safety on site in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations, CDM Regulations, and NGED Safety Rules. · Lead by example in promoting a positive safety culture. · Ensure all site staff are competent, authorised, and suitably briefed. · Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks, safety observations, and audits. · Ensure incidents, near misses, and hazards are reported and investigated in line with company procedures. · Ensure environmental controls and quality standards are implemented and maintained. Requirements Skills & Experience · Proven experience in a Site Manager or Supervisory role within the electricity distribution sector. · Strong working knowledge of LV and HV distribution networks, preferably on NGED assets. · Experience managing site teams and subcontractors. · Sound understanding of NGED standards, safety rules, and permit systems. · Ability to read, understand, and manage drawings, programmes, and technical documentation. · Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills. · Previous experience working directly for or with NGED. · Experience delivering substation builds, refurbishments, or major cable works. · Commercial awareness and experience managing site costs and variations. Qualifications & Authorisations Essential: · Relevant electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or higher in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent). · SMSTS or SSSTS (SMSTS preferred). · Current UK driving licence. · NGED authorisations or the ability to obtain them. Desirable: · HV/LV switching authorisations. · AP/CP (Authorised Person / Competent Person) authorisations. · IOSH or NEBOSH qualification. · First Aid at Work. · CSCS/ECS (Manager or Supervisor level).
