This role will develop a cohesive data architecture across Springer Natures research brands, transforming services and products towards a data-driven customer experience.
About You

Role Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and align on a target data architecture supporting strategic goals.
2. Develop and maintain data architecture guidelines and standards for consistency across the organization, including digital products and marketing domains.
3. Provide guidance and mentorship to promote data quality, harmonization, and governance practices.
4. Explain data concepts to senior leaders to foster data literacy and informed decision-making.
5. Develop and maintain data models and artifacts to document current and future states of the customer data landscape.
6. Identify and define data products aligned with business needs.
7. Work with teams and architects on broader data ecosystem development, including data disambiguation, APIs, and machine learning models.
8. Validate architecture through delivery, making adjustments as needed.
9. Collaborate with privacy, governance, and management roles to ensure data security, compliance, and adherence to regulations like GDPR.
10. Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure data solutions.
11. Participate in workshops and planning sessions to foster shared data architecture approaches.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Extensive experience in data modeling and complex data domain modeling.
* Proven track record in defining data strategies, roadmaps, and principles.
* Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and harmonization.
* Experience with non-functional requirements like security and compliance.
* Ability to assess technology options and define suitable frameworks.
* Experience with success metrics and performance monitoring of data components.
* Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
* Proven strategies for data quality improvement and stakeholder engagement.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Knowledge of data mesh, BI, data warehousing, and data platforms.
* Experience with cloud-based data solutions.
* Strong facilitation and influence skills across organizational silos.
* Experience supporting Agile teams.
What You Will Be Doing
1 month: Collaborate with stakeholders, document current data landscape, build relationships with governance and security teams, identify issues.
3 months: Develop a high-level roadmap, support autonomous delivery, analyze feasibility, create an architectural forum.
6 months: Refine the roadmap, scale successful approaches, communicate future vision.
