About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable Waste Labourer to join our Operational Services team. You will work as part of a small team to ensure the safe and efficient removal of refuse from households, businesses, and public spaces across the Borough. This role involves driving duties, waste collection, street cleansing, and recycling operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drive and operate Council vehicles safely, including daily checks and cleaning.
2. Collect and dispose of waste at designated facilities.
3. Assist with street sweeping, litter removal, and recycling tasks.
4. Respond to public enquiries courteously and professionally.
5. Maintain accurate records (mileage, fuel, defects) and report issues promptly.
6. Support team training and promotional recycling activities.
7. Comply with Health & Safety, PPE requirements, and Council policies.
Essential Criteria:
8. Minimum 1 year’s experience in outdoor general labouring.
9. Previous experience in a waste environment.
10. Valid Category B driving licence (declare any penalty points).
11. Awareness of Health & Safety and COSHH legislation.
