Quality Manager
Working pattern: Monday‑Friday, 5 over 7, 40 hours per week. Location: Leicestershire.
Responsibilities
* Ensure systems are in place to capture site specific QMS documentation and are audit ready.
* Ensure all documentation is available to operations and trained out against a defined training matrix.
* Conduct traceability exercises to confirm all information is captured to ensure due diligence, integrity and product control.
* Schedule finished product assessments to verify shelf life and report out of specification products.
* Conduct investigations to identify causes, corrective actions and verify corrective actions taken against all out of specification products and procedures.
* Attend NPD meetings to capture all upcoming products, ensuring that all paperwork including Quality Attribute sheets is available for launch and attend the pre‑production trials and first launch runs of all new products to confirm consistency of performance.
* Lead member of the HACCP team, organizing review meetings and updating the HACCP plan with any amendments to legal compliance or system changes.
* Ensure systems are maintained to be audit ready for all laboratory results, and that all non‑conforming results are investigated, corrective actions implemented, and control confirmed for all environmental fails.
* Ensure non‑conformances raised in line with procedures are input into the correct systems, communicated, investigated and closed out, liaising with other departments to achieve this in a timely manner.
* Confirm relevant weight control checks are completed and audited to ensure all products produced comply with the Weights and Measures Act 1985.
* Sign off any equipment or area where engineering/maintenance work has been carried out, ensuring it is free from contamination before production recommences.
* Ensure any out of specification results are communicated and discussed with the Technical Manager to confirm actions to be taken and re‑tests carried out in accordance with company procedure.
* Be the CCP champion for the business and ensure all QA's can correctly train staff and have the knowledge to upskill production within this remit.
* Schedule PQE assessments and ensure QAS are available to the production teams, communicating any amendments identified as required.
* Ensure allergen controls are in place and not compromised; schedule and assist in routine allergen validations in line with company procedures.
* Schedule the auditing workload of the QA's in line with the Internal Auditing procedure, ensuring that all areas including GMP, Glass and Hard Plastic, and fabrication auditing are conducted, communicated and corrective actions implemented within the given timelines.
* Conduct adhoc GMP and Hygiene audits as instructed by the Technical Director to ensure site standards are adhered to at all times.
* Lead on all CCP and weights and measures training. Conduct verification exercises on both production staff and QA.
Qualifications
* HACCP Level 4
* Food Hygiene Level 3
* Good knowledge of a Quality Auditing function (minimum three years working experience in the food industry)
* BRCGS certification (or equivalent) in Internal Auditing, Risk Assessment, Verification and Validation as a minimum
* Minimum of three years retailer standard requirements experience
* Experience within a manufacturing environment (bakery preferred but not essential; full training will be given)
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written
