Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- To carry out the site set-up, carefully planning the work to be done including arranging temporary offices and welfare for site staff.
- To drive and deliver the scope of the works to ensure that the project is delivered on programme/budget and to the highest quality standard, prepare short term programmes.
- To supervise and manage all subcontractors on site, and direct labour. Carry out Sub-Contractor meetings
- To arrange for all works to be signed off during and on completion
- To manage the site welfare facilities and order all sundry items when required.
- To maintain an orderly site filing system so that papers and records are easily located.
- To keep accurate wage records for direct labour, so that timesheets can be submitted to payroll on a daily/weekly basis.
- To complete the site daily and weekly diary, and ensure all visitors sign the visitor’s book, complete plant returns
- To ensure the site is secure and safe at all times.
- To carry out daily safe start meetings to identify and rectify risks prior to any works commencing
- To carry out take offs and order site materials as and when required and to programme.
- To oversee delivery of materials and check for any damages prior to storage, ensuring damage or missing items are noted on the delivery tickets
- Interpret drawings and specifications.
- To prepare site reports and issue to the Contracts Manager
- To check all drawings and designs highlighting any discrepancies to the relevant parties and Contracts Manager
- To ensure all drawing registers are up to date, and all sub-contractors are working to the correct revisions
- To maintain the Company quality control procedures and ensure these are followed on site.
- To deal with any routine client enquiries and requests, whilst referring more complex issues to the Contracts Manager.
- To liaise with the Contracts Manager regarding any deviations or detail modifications prior to carrying them out
- To ensure smooth hand-over to the client with zero defects or snagging.
- To attend client meetings when required and to prepare reports on progress of project.
- To record any site variation orders and additional works, by means of a CVI tracker
- To ensure that the workforce on site is motivated and directed so as to maintain output and adhere to standards.
- To lead by example with his/her own punctuality and make sure all the workforce come and go as agreed and work the hours for which they are paid.
- To exercise discipline on site, taking appropriate action with regard to any disciplinary issues that may arise, e.g. punctuality, standards of appearance and/or behavior, disputes, wearing TSG clothing, PPE, not working to method statements etc.
- You will be expected to keep accurate records of all such issues as and when they occur and keep the Contracts Manager informed, a yellow and red card system is in place
- To identify any risks and produce method statements on how such risks are to be dealt with in accordance with H&S requirements. Check Sub-Contractors RAMS by means of the TSG 10 point plan,
- To manage Health and Safety on site in accordance with company safety policies and procedures, and HSE regulations
- To ensure that all the Company's legal responsibilities in this respect are met.
- To ensure all Health and Safety standards set by the Company and other relevant bodies are adhered to at all times and that all work is carried out within statutory regulations.
- To ensure safety inductions are carried out for all new starters, including direct labour / subcontractors and visitors, RAMS are to be read during induction and signed by all operatives that they have read them and understood them
- To ensure the security and correct operation of equipment supplied, i.e. Tools, vehicles, mobile phones, laptops, etc.
- As a Site Manager, you are expected to lead by example.
- To ensure you are contactable in the event of any out-of-hours emergencies in order to help resolve any issues that may crop up.
- To work overtime as can be reasonably expected to keep the project on programme.
- To help out with any other duties as and when required in order to meet the needs of the business. You are expected to be as flexible as possible.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- CSCS
- Asbestos Awareness
- First Aid
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
- Scaffold Inspection (Not essential)
