Job Description
The site manager will be adept at on‑site management of client interfaces, contractors, approval of risk assessments and method statements, problem‑solving and negotiating problems, and implementing the Galliford Try business management systems. The role requires full responsibility for production functions on security projects with typical value between £1m‑£8m, from award through to completion, while maintaining and maximizing the quality of service and profitability.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that the necessary security of the works is maintained at all times to protect the reputation of Galliford Try.
* Issue and control work permits and implement safe working practices with a zero‑harm culture.
* Conduct surveying and investigation activities.
* Apply general civil engineering and construction experience to projects.
* Manage perimeter fencing systems.
* Install drainage and ducting systems.
* Work with reinforced concrete bases and bays.
* Execute general excavation works.
* Locate utilities and apply safe digging techniques and practices.
* Work around existing utilities and services using correct and best practices to undertake the works safely.
* Carry out ground investigation works and permitary tasks.
* Implement integrated security management solutions.
* Communicate effectively with team members and client representatives.
* Understand and comply with the business management system.
* Keep accurate site records, raise issues to the commercial management team via the Early Warning process, and maintain strong communication with senior management.
* Show leadership and a can‑do attitude in all situations.
* Be willing to travel and be flexible as required; some work may require staying away from home with full recompense.
Qualifications
* Experience within the construction industry and knowledge of relevant security standards.
* Hold or achieve security clearance to SC level as a minimum.
* Previous experience on MOD projects is preferable but not essential.
