The Role Reporting to the Policy, the Policy & Research Officer will play a key role in delivering research and policy work focused affordability and accessibility for residents in Northern Ireland. The role contributes to wider work areas including EU Exit impacts, household expenditure, online harms, and evolving consumer trends. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong research, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills who is passionate about influencing policy and improving outcomes for the public. Key Responsibilities Support the delivery of strategic objectives set out in the Corporate Plan Plan, commission, and manage research projects with external suppliers in line with public sector procurement requirements Undertake data analysis and interpret findings to inform policy development Ensure all research outputs are of publishable standard for reports Analyse and present complex data in a clear, accessible format for a range of audiences Produce high-quality reports, briefings, and written outputs Support policy impact analysis relating to emerging markets and consumer issues Engage regularly with stakeholders to monitor developments in food affordability and accessibility Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging issues and trends Represent the organisation at events, meetings, and forums Build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders Prepare presentations, briefings, and speaking notes for senior staff Support external communications and engagement activity Support wider Directorate and organisational priorities as required Contribute to collaborative team working and continuous improvement The Person Essential Criteria Experience working in a policy-related role Knowledge of public sector processes or consumer policy issues Experience presenting research findings to a range of audiences Experience planning, commissioning, and managing research projects Strong report writing and proofreading skills Experience analysing, interpreting, and presenting data Excellent organisational and time management skills Experience in stakeholder engagement and networking Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Package & Benefits Contract: Until March 2027 Location: Belfast (hybrid working available) Hours: Full-time, standard office hours Competitive salary (dependent on experience) Opportunity to influence public policy and make a tangible impact Collaborative and supportive working environment Professional development opportunities How to Apply To apply for this role, submit your CV via the application form provided.
