Join Balfour Beatty as a Quality Manager
Balfour Beatty is offering an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager to become part of our Regional Buildings team, contributing to the landmark University of Sussex, West Slopes Project.
In this pivotal role, you’ll champion our “Right First Time” ethos, driving continual improvement across the project and beyond. You’ll be a key partner to our construction team—sharing knowledge, embedding lessons learned, and fostering a strong quality culture that reduces errors and enhances performance. As part of the Regional Buildings quality team, you’ll help shape how we manage quality across the wider business, making a lasting impact on both the project and our future success.
What you'll be doing
As Quality Manager, You Will Manage
* Planning for Quality: Maintain the Project Quality Plan and ensure we are prepared for compliance with our ongoing and upcoming tasks.
* Inspection and Test Plans: Check and verify that ITPs are suitable for the works, capture our acceptance criteria and are delivered in time, as per our Project Quality Plan.
* Materials: Ensure all materials being incorporated into the works have been assessed, are accompanied by the required information and have been accepted in accordance with our Material Approval Procedure.
* Records: Undertake reviews of the records we generate such as checklists, testing results and diaries to ensure they are appropriate, any gaps are identified and that we’re maintaining a Golden Thread of information.
* Issue Management: Ensure our non-conformance procedures are being followed, all issues are being recorded and actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
* Inspections: Undertake regular inspections of the works to identify areas for improvement, supporting teams and supply chains with necessary assistance.
* Promote Continuous Improvement: Drive best practices and share lessons to achieve better outcomes, sometimes delivering training to project teams and the supply chain.
* Ensure Smooth Handovers: Work with project team to compile the projects H&S file and O&M manual, enabling a defect-free handover and leaving a positive legacy.
* Produce Regular Reports: Generate reports for the project leadership, highlighting best practices, areas for improvement, and communicating quality performance.
* Implement Quality Systems: Support the project by implementing our quality systems and processes and contribute to the delivery of Regional Buildings quality strategy and action plan.
Who we're looking for
Essential Personal Qualities And Experience
* Project Experience: Experience in delivering construction projects, either in design or construction.
* Strong Communication Skills: Ability to make and maintain healthy working relationships.
* Leadership Confidence: Comfortable working with Senior Management and challenging existing ways of working to support business improvement.
* Team Collaboration: Capable of working within a multi-discipline team.
* Self-Motivated: Able to manage own calendar efficiently.
* Travel: Travel may sometimes be necessary for factory inspections and quality forums.
