Senior Site Manager – Onshore (UK, England)
Spencer Ogden is partnering with a leading organisation in the energy infrastructure sector to recruit an experienced Senior Site Manager for a major onshore cable installation project in England.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a large-scale power transmission project, supporting the UK’s transition to a more sustainable energy network.
The Role
As Senior Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient project execution. You will act as a key interface between contractors, stakeholders, and project leadership while driving a strong health & safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead site supervision and ensure full compliance with project HSE plans and construction procedures
* Champion a strong safety culture across all site activities
* Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to avoid interface clashes
* Chair daily and weekly site meetings with stakeholders
* Oversee civil construction activities including trenching, HDD, duct installation, cable installation, and reinstatement
* Ensure all personnel are trained, competent, and equipped for their tasks
* Manage permits, access requirements, and stakeholder coordination (landowners, authorities, etc.)
* Monitor HSE risks and ensure mitigation measures are implemented
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits
* Maintain accurate project documentation and contribute to lessons learned
Key Requirements
* Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Site Manager on major infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects
* Strong experience managing subcontractors and reviewing technical documentation
* Proven track record in permits and stakeholder management
* Experience coordinating multiple contractors on complex worksites
* Strong leadership and commitment to health & safety
Technical Experience
* Civil works supervision (trenching, backfilling, HDD, cable pulling, etc.)
* Experience on power or telecoms cable installation projects is highly desirable
* Familiarity with UK regulations and standards, including:
o Health and Safety at Work Act
o CDM Regulations 2015
o BS 5975 Temporary Work
Certifications
* CDM Regulations 2015 knowledge
* Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) certification (preferred)
