Description
Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of young people? At Esher Sixth Form College (Ofsted Outstanding), we are looking for enthusiastic and committed Learning Mentor to join our Additional Learning Needs (ALN) team.
As a Learning Mentor, you'll work directly with students who have a wide range of additional needs – supporting them both inside and outside the classroom to help them access learning, develop study skills, and build confidence. Based in our dedicated ALN Centre, you'll provide one-to-one and small group support, run study skills sessions, and play a vital role during exam season, acting as a reader, scribe, or invigilator where required.
This is a varied and rewarding role, where every day you'll see the impact of your support in helping students overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
We are looking for someone who:
* Is positive, approachable and motivated by helping young people succeed.
* Has the confidence to support students with a wide range of learning, social, emotional and mental health needs.
* Can build strong, supportive relationships with students and colleagues.
* Demonstrates good communication and organisational skills, with the flexibility to adapt to different situations.
* Has experience in education, youth work or support roles (advantageous but not essential).
* Brings enthusiasm, resilience and a commitment to inclusion, ensuring every student can access their education and achieve their potential.
Why join us?
By joining Esher Sixth Form College, you will:
* Be part of a welcoming, student-focused team making a real difference.
* Gain valuable experience in SEND and post-16 education.
* Enjoy a supportive environment with opportunities for training and development.
* Benefit from an excellent pension scheme (Local Government Pension Scheme for support staff).
* Receive an outstanding holiday allowance of 13 weeks per year (term-time only contract, 36 hours x 39 weeks).
* Take part in a range of staff wellbeing and social activities, from yoga and gym sessions to book clubs, sports teams and staff events.
* Access professional development opportunities, including induction, training days, external courses and the possibility of funding for further qualifications.
* Enjoy on-site perks, including free parking, an excellent café, complimentary tea/coffee, and staff social events like Christmas lunch and summer barbecues.
* Take advantage of additional staff benefits such as the Cycle to Work scheme, free annual flu jabs, an Employee Assistance Programme, and discounted memberships at local health clubs.
