Behaviour & Learning Mentor – Ideal for Psychology Graduates & Students

Location: Cardiff (CF5)
Start Date: 13th of April 2026 (pending vetting)
Contract: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 08:15-15:15
Pay: £110 per day via PAYEE with weekly pay

About the Role

As a Behaviour & Learning Mentor, you’ll play a key role in supporting students’:

Emotional wellbeing

Behaviour and self-regulation

Academic engagement and confidence

You’ll work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support that helps students reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver 1:1 and small group support for students with additional needs

Support the implementation of behaviour and learning plans

Help students develop focus, resilience, and emotional regulation skills

Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment

Collaborate with staff and parents to support student progress

Ideal for Aspiring Professionals In:

Educational or Clinical Psychology

Counselling & Therapy

Teaching & SEN Support

Youth Work or Social Work

What We’re Looking For

A degree in Psychology (or currently studying Psychology or a related field)

A genuine passion for mental health, education, and child development

Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence

Patience, empathy, and adaptability

Experience working with young people is desirable, but not essential (full training provided)

What You’ll Need

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)

Two recent teaching or professional references

An up-to-date CV

Recent safeguarding training (or willingness to complete – we can provide this)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
