The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable mainframe applications. The role involves working with COBOL, IMS, z/OS, and particularly IBM DB2 for database management and optimisation. This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest mainframe installations globally, supporting a critical payments platform with decades of proven stability. The position includes handling remediation work, integrating new payment streams into global banking systems, and supporting a mission-critical legacy payments platform. The role The role also requires troubleshooting production issues, implementing enhancements, and ensuring long-term system stability. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, IMS, and z/OS. Manage and optimize IBM DB2 databases, ensuring high performance and reliability. Provide production support, bug fixes, and enhancements for legacy payment systems. Contribute to remediation projects and the onboarding of new payment streams into global banking platforms. Participate in Agile ceremonies and adhere to SDLC best practices, including requirements gathering, standards compliance, and collaboration with stakeholders. Work closely with both onshore and offshore teams to deliver stable and scalable solutions. Requirements Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer, currently hands-on in COBOL and DB2. Strong technical expertise in IBM DB2, COBOL, IMS, and z/OS. Demonstrated knowledge of SDLC and Agile delivery practices. Ability to clearly articulate technical standards, requirements, and processes. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
