Job Support Role for Students with Special Educational Needs
The role involves providing in-class support or mentoring outside the classroom as directed by the SEN Team Leader. Responsibilities include assisting with materials preparation, promoting independent learning, and supporting students with EHCPs. The post requires collaboration with tutors and parents, attendance at team meetings, and participation in training programs, including mandatory Team Teach training.
Additional duties include supporting students during work experience or trips, producing risk assessments and support plans, and maintaining administrative records. The role's duties may evolve over time.
Offers are conditional upon pre-employment checks such as DBS and right to work verification.
Qualifications and Experience
* English and Maths skills at Level 2 or equivalent.
* Knowledge of IT applications.
* Experience supporting young people with learning difficulties or disabilities.
* Desirable: GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths, relevant qualifications for Specific Learning Difficulties, experience in Further Education, and managing students with behavioural concerns.
Skills and Attributes
* Excellent communication and motivational skills.
* Supportive, positive attitude and awareness of health and safety procedures.
* Strong administrative skills and flexibility in teaching approaches.
* Understanding of Equality, Diversity, safeguarding, and welfare policies.
* Desirable: Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans, and the SEND Code of Practice (2014).
The position is pro-rata, with a salary of £14,349.29 per annum, adjusted for start date within the academic year.
