Learning and Development & HR Officer At Ragdale Hall Spa, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are now looking for a Learning & Development & HR Officer to join our supportive and forward‑thinking HR team, playing a key role in developing our colleagues and delivering a professional, people‑focused HR service across the business. This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who is passionate about learning, development, and employee experience, and who thrives in a varied and hands‑on role. The Role Reporting to the HR Manager and working closely with the Head of People and Learning & Development, you’ll be responsible for coordinating all aspects of learning and development across the business whilst also supporting a broad range of HR activities. Your role will include:
1. Working closely with Heads of Department to identify training needs and deliver impactful development solution
2. Creating and maintaining Learning Needs Analyses, skills matrices, and development programmes
3. Supporting leadership, step‑up, and compliance training across the organisation
4. Evaluating training effectiveness and providing insightful reports to the leadership team
5. Supporting onboarding and induction to ensure a positive employee experience
6. Providing proactive HR support to managers on performance, wellbeing, absence, and employee relations matters
7. Supporting recruitment during busy periods
8. Contributing to HR projects, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
9. This role offers excellent scope to shape learning and development activity while building strong HR experience in a prestigious hospitality environment.
The Ideal Candidate
10. You will have proven learning & development and HR experience, preferably within a hospitality environment, although this is not essential.
11. You’ll need to be tenacious, creative and organised, with the ability to prioritise in a fast‑paced environment. An inquisitive mind and a sharp eye for detail are key. Fantastic written and verbal communication skills are essential.
12. You must be confident using technology, with strong IT skills including experience of an HR Information System (HRIS).
13. Whilst a CIPD qualification would be advantageous, there is also scope for this to be a developmental HR role for someone wishing to build their knowledge and experience of employee relations, in a supportive team environment where we are fully committed to your continuous professional development.
Hours of Work 32 – 37.5 hours per week, working over 4 or 5 days. Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm. Salary Competitive, dependent on experience.
