We're looking for a keen and enthusiastic home cook to join our team at our purpose-built care home, Meadfoot View to cover the weekend shifts.
While you don't need to be a trained chef, you should have a genuine passion for cooking and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will be confident, caring, and organised, with consistently high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.

Full Description
* Meal Preparation: Plan, prepare, cook, and present meals tailored to residents' dietary requirements, including specialist diets for allergies, intolerances, and medical needs.
* Menu Planning: Support menu creation that is both nutritious and appealing, considering residents' preferences and cultural backgrounds.
* Hygiene and Safety: Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and food safety in line with regulations. Complete all required documentation to remain compliant with environmental health standards and company procedures.
* Stock Management: Monitor stock levels, order supplies as required, and ensure correct storage to minimize waste.
* Teamwork: Work collaboratively with kitchen and care staff to support residents' needs.
* Resident Interaction: Engage with residents to understand their dietary needs and preferences, responding to feedback in a professional and supportive manner.
* Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety policies, report hazards, and ensure a safe working environment.
* Documentation: Accurately record residents' meal choices, kitchen compliance checks, and escalate any concerns to the management team.

A Successful Candidate Should Have
* Cooking Skills: Strong cooking ability, including preparing a variety of meals and specialist diets.
* Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food hygiene regulations and best practices.
* Organizational Skills: Ability to plan meals, manage stock, and maintain a clean, efficient kitchen.
* Communication Skills: Clear and respectful communication with residents, colleagues, and management.
* Empathy & Patience: Sensitivity to the needs of older adults and ability to create a positive dining experience.
* Time Management: Ability to work efficiently and ensure meals are served on time.
* Physical Stamina: Capability to carry out kitchen duties requiring standing and physical activity.
* Experience: Previous experience in a care home or similar environment is desirable but not essential.
* Qualifications: A professional chef diploma or food hygiene certification is an advantage.
