Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and influential Education Quality Manager (Assistant Manager Level) to help lead the delivery of high‑quality education services at HMP Belmarsh.
Working closely with the Education Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing site performance, improving teaching and learning standards, supporting staff development, and ensuring the curriculum meets learner and partner expectations.
You will act as part of the senior management team, ensuring provision exceeds contractual requirements and aligns with the organisation’s ethos of Improving People’s Lives. You will also deputise for the Education Manager when required.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Curriculum Management
Lead on curriculum planning, development, and quality assurance within your designated areas.
Drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment across the site.
Monitor delivery quality and support tutors to embed best practice. Operational & Performance Management
Support day‑to‑day education operations, including learner induction, class allocation, and behaviour/conduct management.
Set, monitor, and review staff targets to ensure contractual KPIs are consistently met and exceeded.
Lead problem‑solving and innovation to raise standards and improve learner recruitment, retention, achievement, satisfaction, and progression.
People Management & Stakeholder Collaboration
Manage teaching and support staff in line with organisational HR processes to maximise learner outcomes.
Develop strong internal and external partnerships to support learner success.
Attend meetings, cascade key information, and communicate updates across the team. Continuous Improvement & Quality Systems
Contribute to the development and implementation of quality systems and performance strategies.
Ensure curriculum improvements are aligned to learner needs, employer expectations, and inspection requirements.
Support internal audits, quality reviews, and OFSTED‑aligned processes.
Essential & Desirable Criteria
Level 5 or above Teaching Qualification.
Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance (or willingness to work towards).
Strong leadership, motivational, and staff‑management skills.
Experience leading curriculum development and improving teaching/learning quality.
Evidence of continuous professional development and achievement‑focused leadership.
Clear understanding of the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
Proven success in managing curriculum quality, performance systems, and learner outcomes within education settings.
