ROLE PURPOSE The purpose of the People Manager role is to lead the people function to deliver a full employee life-cycle HR service to the business in the Bush & Co way. You will foster a culture where individuals feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. With extensive experience in employment legislation, and people management you will be responsible for driving engagement, performance, and professional growth through collaborative partnerships with the senior management team, delivering an empathetic but fair service to all employees. With the people service at the heart of the business, the expectation is that you will be a trusted and experienced advisor, with excellent communication skills, and working alongside the senior management team to develop an environment where people can do their best work and feel proud of their contributions. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Develop and implements HR Strategies aligned to support company values, business operations and employee engagement Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for all employed staff across the business including candidate sourcing, interviewing, selection and onboarding Own the employee relations end to end framework ranging from providing advice, guidance and support, to leading on investigations or hearings (as appropriate), to compiling minutes and letters, and completing system updates. Organise employee relation process support as required, take the lead on complex processes, and offer coaching to enhance our leadership capability Prepare and manage all employee related documents and records including employment starter documents, employee records, HR System data, holiday and absence records, benefits portals, training records, DBS renewals, payroll instruction etc Assess training needs to develop a skills matrix and, where required, develop and deliver training (or source appropriate training suppliers) to bridge skill and knowledge gaps and maintain capability Provide monthly HR reports to the Senior Management Team that inform and enhance decisions and influence change Maintain a regular review of renumeration package and benefits that is both competitive and compliant Ensure compliance with UK employment law; review and update company policies according to legislation changes, and provide process updates to business leaders Manage associate contract queries and communication; liaising with both internal and external stakeholder SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Educated to CIPD level 5 as a minimum, with up-to-date CIPD membership Proven experience in a generalist HR management role Greater depth understanding of employment law legislation, and typical HR processes Experience of direct management responsibility, and the demonstrable ability to coach and develop new (inexperienced) team members that will grow the People Team Demonstrable effective stakeholder management capability Demonstrable experience in effective and engaging communication Values led, end-to-end recruitment experience Experience in permanent and temporary contracts and associate contracts with an understanding of OPW (off-payroll working) and IR35 rules Experience of leading complex HR processes, with the ability to articulate and record decision making processes Skilled and experienced in coaching and mentoring leaders, regardless of seniority or capability Naturally talented in recognising the unique strengths and potential of individuals Experience of skill gap analysis and creating development plans Confident in delivering training is desirable, however experience in developing training needs and development plans would be beneficial PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Approachable and positive by nature, with an empathetic, fair and consistent approach to all situations Naturally self-motivated with an instinct to get stuck in; capable of prioritising workload, asking for help when needed, and delegating tasks when appropriate Confident in challenging behaviours and processes that are not aligned with business values and culture Curious to challenge the status quo Unified in working together for the same goals and vision Driven to do the right thing and achieve the right outcome Passionate about delivering an exceptional service through collaboration, building trust, maintaining high standards, and continual personal development Due to the nature of business, applicants for this role must be willing to undergo background vetting, including reference checks with previous employers, a criminal record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service, qualification verifications, and a review of any adverse financial records.
