Job Description: Junior Developer
Type: Full time, permanent
Location: Fully remote
Salary: Competitive, between £25,000 to £30,000 depending on experience
We are building a wider team to support the organisation with its expansion goals. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated Junior Developer to grow their skills within an agile environment, receive mentorship from experienced team members, and contribute to meaningful projects. You will liaise with other departments and learn to build relationships with our existing external development partner.
The Junior Developer role is full-time and fully remote. You will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of our applications. This involves collaborating with UI/UX designers, back-end developers, and other stakeholders to create a seamless and engaging user experience. You will be instrumental in bringing our innovative virtual number platform to life, ensuring it is not only visually appealing but also highly functional, responsive, and performant across various devices and browsers. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tools.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in developing and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure applications using Golang, Kubernetes, and gRPC.
* Contribute to the design and implementation of efficient database schemas and queries with MySQL.
* Assist in building responsive and user-friendly web applications using Svelte and TypeScript, ensuring optimal performance.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, including product managers and designers.
* Learn to troubleshoot and optimise application performance and address scalability challenges.
* Contribute to the implementation of CI/CD pipelines using AWS and Cloudflare for smooth deployment processes.
* Participate in maintaining code quality by writing comprehensive unit tests and engaging in regular code reviews.
Qualifications:
* 0-2 years of professional experience in a similar role, or a strong portfolio demonstrating development skills.
* Basic proficiency in Golang and TypeScript, with a willingness to learn and build robust backend systems.
* Foundational understanding of Kubernetes, gRPC, protobuf, and MySQL.
* Basic front-end development skills in Svelte, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
* Familiarity with Flutter is a plus, but not mandatory.
* A basic understanding of cloud services, especially AWS (EC2, RDS, EKS) and Cloudflare.
* Eagerness to learn and develop problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools for production environments is a plus.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to document processes effectively.
