We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed senior midwife with strong clinical leadership skills. You will be joining a well‑established team of Labour Ward Sisters, dedicated to the ongoing promotion of woman‑centred personalised care in line with ‘Better Births’ and delivering high standards of intrapartum care.
The role will involve the coordination of the Labour Ward at our Stoke Mandeville site and leadership for a small team of midwives including their appraisals and personal development plans. As a member of our team you will be professional, reliable, safe and compassionate to women, babies and their families. You will work collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team in an environment that is open, supportive and empowering.
It is essential that you have the required post‑registration experience for this post, possess excellent communication skills, are flexible and enjoy working within a busy, enthusiastic team.
Responsibilities
* Manage the clinical area of responsibility.
* Assess the full range of care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period for women and their babies.
* Work autonomously within guidelines and the sphere of professional practice.
* Act as a mentor for new qualified and junior midwives and other staff, providing leadership within the practice environment.
* Provide a full range of Health Education and social care advice to women in the hospital setting.
* Promote commitment to the Trust.
