Site Manager – £375 per day – 9 months
Location and Engagement
Near Bridgwater, working as a subcontractor on a BESS project delivering on-site civils on behalf of the main contractor. Employment is outside IR35 and is paid either through a Ltd Company or CIS.
About the Role
The Site Manager will work closely with the Project Manager and Project Quantity Surveyor to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, and to the company’s high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Operational Management: Plan the day‑to‑day work, manage resources including plant, materials, directly employed labour and subcontractors, and resolve issues while maintaining team morale.
* Technical Oversight: Supervise specific civil works packages such as S278, foul drainage, storm drainage, reinforced concrete (RC) and ducting.
* Safety Leadership: Conduct CDM‑compliant site inductions, toolbox talks and Daily Activity Briefings; maintain HSEQ and RAMS compliance and perform required daily and weekly checks as per CDM/LOLER/PUWER.
* Coordination & Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for the main contractor’s project manager, site engineers and client stakeholders.
* Quality Control: Keep accurate site records, manage the snagging process, ensure work matches technical drawings and specifications, and support the preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for sign‑off and hand‑over.
* Commercial Support: Monitor package costs, identify variations (CVIs) and supply information for monthly valuations.

Mandatory Certifications
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
* CSCS Black Card (Manager level)
* First Aid at Work certificate
* EUSR Category 1 & 2
* Temporary Works Supervisor
* Strong IT skills – ability to use Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
* Appointed Person Lifting Operations
* Confined Space (Medium Risk) certification
* Experience with the Fonn platform
* Proven track‑record delivering specialist groundworks or civil engineering projects, including foul and storm drainage, ducting, formwork, reinforcement and concrete.
* Experience on BESS/STOR civil projects is highly desirable.
* Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, perform material take‑offs and basic setting‑out, including taking levels from datum points.
* Full UK driving licence.
