About The Role

Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time Only plus 5 inset days

Working Hours: Full Time, 35 hours per week

Number of Positions: 1

Qualifications Required: Numeracy/Literacy skills with a good level of knowledge and understanding (at a level equivalent to NQF Level 2 or higher)

Start Date: (subject to pre‑employment checks) 25th May 2026

Salary: Grade 4 – T. The pro‑rata salary is £22,710 and the full‑time equivalent is £26,403.

Chorlton High School is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Learning Mentor who is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of students.

As a Learning Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students who may face social, emotional or behavioural challenges. You’ll work closely with teaching staff, parents and other professionals to provide tailored interventions, build trusting relationships and foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people, and has the ability to form excellent relationships with pupils. Experience working in educational or youth support settings is desirable, but more importantly, we’re looking for someone with the empathy, patience and motivation to help young people to achieve.


Your work will include:

* Providing pastoral support and mentoring to pupils
* Supporting students with additional needs, including SEND
* Delivering tailored interventions to improve engagement, behaviour and attendance
* Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom
* Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers
* Monitoring and recording student progress and contributing to support plans
* Promoting inclusion, wellbeing and positive behaviour across the school


About the Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

* Is passionate about supporting young people to succeed
* Has experience working with children or young people (education or youth settings desirable)
* Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and adults
* Demonstrates empathy, patience and resilience
* Works effectively as part of a team
* Has strong communication and organisational skills
* Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Experience supporting pupils with additional needs or delivering mentoring interventions would be advantageous.
