The Company
Our client is a successful construction main contractor who work nationally from their multiple offices across the country. They are looking to appoint a freelance Site Manager to manage a fast track project interior fit out / refurbishment of a spa and changing rooms at the University of York. Their success has led to a sharp increase in turnover. The Company has the aim to continue with their growth over the coming financial year.s They have developed an excellent reputation for themselves in market sectors including: Office, Hotel, Education, Commercial and Student Accommodation. They are an entirely relationship driven business and pride themselves on the fact that over 70% of their workload is negotiated with existing clients that they have built relationships with.
The Site Manager Role
This role could is suitable for a Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager looking to work in a more dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be expected to execute the designated role to the agreed programme, in line with Health, Safety and Environmental standards expected by the client and company.
The position will be managing of a site in York that starts on the 21st July 2025 and will run for a approximately 8 weeks. The project is the fast track interior fit out / refurbishment of a spa / gym at the University of York.
It is expected that the successful applicant will be capable of running the project on a day to day basis with the assistance of a visiting Project Manager. As the Site Manager you will be responsible for the delivery of the project with both refurbishment and fit out elements from inception to completion.
Responsibilities include:
Managing the project on site
Managing the build program
Some inductions if required
Managing Health and Safety
Working closely with all sub-contractors to ensure projects finish on time.
Liaising on all levels to ensure effective communication is always maintained.
The ideal candidate will have previously managed fast track refurbishment sites within the construction and refurbishment sectors, experience of hotel, office, student accommodation, commercial, gym, leisure and PRS apartment schemes is beneficial.
As the Site Manager, you will be required to be a self-motivated individual who is autonomous in your role, whilst being able to drive subcontractors.
Must be IT literate and capable of running the project as the No 1 on site.
It is essential that you hold SMSTS, CSCS Black Card, Asbestos Awareness, First Aid certificates, Manual Handling, Working at Heights and Fire Marshall certificates.
The project will commence on the 21st July 2025.
Remuneration:
Dependent upon experience, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to earn up to £280 per day DOE.
