Groundworks Site Manager The Groundworks Site Manager will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of all site-based groundworks activities. This includes managing teams, coordinating materials and plant, maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification. Key Responsibilities Operational Management Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day activities of Engineers, Foremen, labour, and plant operators to ensure smooth site operations. Plan and schedule works effectively, ensuring all materials, equipment, and plant are available in good time for each stage of construction. Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with the relevant project specifications, drawings, and quality standards. Health, Safety & Quality Implement and maintain the company’s Health & Safety and Quality Assurance Management Systems. Carry out regular site inspections to monitor compliance with HSE regulations and company procedures. Promote a strong safety culture on site, ensuring all operatives adhere to safety protocols and that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are up to date. Planning & Reporting Develop detailed programmes of work and site strategies, anticipating and mitigating potential delays or issues. Prepare and maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and checkpoint documentation to a high professional standard. Provide regular progress and financial updates to the Contracts Manager and Quantity Surveyor. Collaboration & Communication Liaise proactively with internal teams, including Estimators, Buyers, and Surveyors, to ensure effective pre-construction planning. Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors, fostering long-term partnerships based on trust and performance. Work closely with the Contracts Manager and QS to ensure the project forecast for labour, materials, and plant is maintained and adhered to. Technical & Temporary Works Management Manage and coordinate all aspects of temporary works on site, ensuring designs are implemented safely and correctly. Ensure technical compliance and promote best practices across all groundworks activities. General Expectations Reliable, punctual, and professional at all times. Able to collaborate effectively with other trades and site personnel to support the timely delivery of the overall construction programme. Must have the legal right to work in the UK. Completion of the company’s IT induction and training programme within the first 1–3 months of employment. Desirable Attributes Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
