Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety practices. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and that our guests receive high-quality meals. This position requires both creativity and attention to detail, as well as the ability to contribute to the smooth operation of the Retreat House events.
About us
Minsteracres Retreat Centre provides accommodation for up to 72 people set in 110 acres of rural countryside. The peaceful setting provides the ideal location for retreats housed in a grand manor house with a magnificent ballroom and beautiful chapel.
Minsteracres Retreat Centre is a Christian organisation. Whilst this post does not hold a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a committed Christian, they must empathise with the Christian and other faiths.
Duties
* Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and standards. Meal time groups range from 10 to 70 people.
* Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
* Assist in meal preparation for special events or large groups as needed.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
* Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
* Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting any shortages to management.
* Assist the kitchen team to oversee volunteers working in the dining room and washing up area during kitchen operations.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar culinary role is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills, including baking.
* Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
* Ability to work well as part of an efficient team
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
* A passion for cooking and creating delicious meals and treats for guests.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including day times, early evenings and weekends.
* Typical working day is up to 8 hour morning/evening shifts (no split shifts)
* Access to your own transport
