Responsible for the management, development, and delivery of all aspects of the catering service within the hospital. Ensuring that the preparation and presentation of food comply with the required standards and costs are controlled within budget whilst maximising the customer experience through the production of interesting and creative menus.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you, the Catering Manager, will be responsible for managing all catering requirements within the hospital, through effective management of the Ward Kitchen and Caf catering staff. You will ensure set rotas are in place for the catering department and provide an efficient high-quality food and beverage service.
You will operate in line with recognised food hygiene standards and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide clear and consistent leadership to all staff in the catering department, maintaining a visible presence in line with the catering operational plan.
* Lead in the recruitment and selection process of staff, manage sickness reviews, disciplinary issues, and use of agency/bank staff.
* Provide leadership to all staff levels, ensuring discipline is maintained and staff are supported in development, training, and competency assessments.
* Plan and organise workload and staff skill mix to accommodate department throughput and provide adequate cover.
* Ensure all equipment is in good working order and used appropriately.
