Birmingham City University is seeking a Head of Recruitment to shape and deliver all recruitment and selection activity across the institution, supporting to delivery of the priorities outlined in the University's ambitious and future-focussed Strategic Plan.
Leading on all recruitment and selection matters across the organisation, the post holder will work collaboratively to develop policy, systems and processes, and innovative practice that ensure the University is well positioned to recruit and retain the highest quality talent in a competitive market. Working closely with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team, the Head of Recruitment will ensure that these values are clear and visible in all that we do, ensuring that our University is truly representative of the student body and communities we serve in our home city.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Head of Recruitment oversees a team of Talent Acquisition Partners to engage directly with the market and support dedicated business areas across the organisation. Additionally, the role line manages the Recruitment Partners in supporting the internal recruitment environment by developing systems, processes and governance. The Head of Recruitment ensures the establishment and implementation of robust and effective recruitment and resourcing practices that deliver a high-quality and cost-effective service.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Strategically planning all recruitment activity for the full range of academic and professional service roles across the university; deploying resources effectively to ensure that vacancies are filled in a timely and cost-effective manner, and in adherence to University policy and values.
* Leading on the development and delivery of a University talent strategy; defining best-practice in effective candidate sourcing and engagement to ensure that the University is well-positioned to recruit and retain talented colleagues effectively.
* Overseeing the design and delivery of systems and processes that ensure Birmingham City University offers a market-leading candidate experience that enhances the reputation and employer brand of the institution.
* Championing best practice and provide expert advice to colleagues on all aspects of recruitment; support them through the full recruitment process, to include interview support when feasible and lead in the delivery of recruitment training.
* Ensuring full compliance across recruitment activity, including that related to immigration and sponsorship, DBS, and GDPR.
* Managing the contract and performance of the University's chosen partner for student working, ensuring the supplier provides a high-quality service that positively impacts upon the student experience.
The Head of Recruitment will:
* Be a Chartered Member of the CIPD or possess equivalent professional experience.
* Possess extensive experience of in-house recruitment practice, with demonstrable experience of successfully recruiting for vacancies up to and including senior executive level.
* Demonstrate a high level of understanding and awareness of current issues in equality, diversity, and inclusivity and how these impact upon recruitment activity.
* Have experience of leading and line managing a team in an in-house recruitment environment; coaching, motivating, and nurturing team members to develop a supportive, effective, and consistently high-performing team.
* Be experienced in using a variety of technologies to deliver high-quality recruitment services and activities, with specific experience of developing applicant tracking systems to ensure that functionality works effectively for all stakeholders.
This is a hybrid working role, typically working three days per week on campus and based in the Joseph Priestley Building on the University's City Centre Campus.

Job Description
The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
