A Hod Carrier plays a vital role on construction sites by supporting bricklayers, masons, and other tradespeople. They are responsible for transporting and preparing materials, ensuring work areas remain organized and safe, and assisting skilled workers to maintain productivity and efficiency. This is a physically demanding role that requires strength, stamina, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry bricks, blocks, mortar, and other building materials to bricklayers and masons using a hod or other equipment.
* Mix mortar and ensure correct consistency for bricklaying and masonry tasks.
* Load and unload materials safely, keeping supplies well-stocked at workstations.
* Set up and dismantle scaffolding, work platforms, and site equipment as required.
* Maintain a clean and safe worksite, removing debris and hazards promptly.
* Assist tradespeople with basic construction tasks under supervision.
* Follow health and safety regulations and wear required protective equipment.
* Work efficiently to support the progress of building projects on schedule.
Skills and Requirements:
* Good level of physical fitness and stamina for heavy lifting and continuous movement.
* Basic knowledge of construction site safety and procedures.
* Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
* Reliable, punctual, and hardworking with a strong work ethic.
* Previous construction or laboring experience preferred but not always required.
