Senior Console Developer – Studio 397 / Motorsport Games Remote (UK, Netherlands, Germany) About Us Studio 397 and Motorsport Games are the video game developer and publishers of “Le Mans Ultimate” – the Official Video Game of the FIA World Endurance Championship and 24 Hours of Le Mans available now on Steam. We also run the popular rFactor 2 simulation title and have created an online matchmaking and player management system for racing games called RaceControl. Our team works remotely, primarily across Europe, and we pride ourselves on technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation. The Role We are seeking a Senior Console Developer to play a key role in developing the next generation of our technology for modern console platforms (PlayStation, Xbox). You will work at the heart of our simulation development, improving existing systems and guiding the creation of new ones to ensure performance and compatibility with console platforms. This role will require strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of real-time games and simulations. You will collaborate across disciplines, help define technical requirements, and support the team in delivering high-quality, performant console titles. Key Responsibilities Develop and refine abstractions between systems to manage console compatibility. Guide development of new systems within console performance budgets. Use your knowledge of platform APIs to get the most from console hardware. Work within the C++ Scrum taking on bugs and supporting other team members. Core Skills & Experience Expert C++ programmer with deep understanding of memory management, concurrency and other game system concerns. Practical experience shipping AA/AAA/commercial titles on console platforms. Strong systems-level understanding (modern graphics HALs, sockets, etc.). Desirable Expert-level knowledge in a technical discipline such as graphics, networking or physics. Experience with build and CI systems (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.). A passion for racing and motorsports. Communication & Collaboration Excellent spoken and written English. Able to engage in nuanced technical discussions weighing low-level and architectural trade-offs. Shows confidence in their own work while valuing the work of others.
