Reports to: Community Hub Director
Start Date: Ideally late Sept/early October 2025 (flexible for the right candidate)

About the Role
Role Purpose
We're looking for two part-time Cooks to join our team at Hope Street Café. You'll play a key role in preparing wholesome, tasty meals that reflect our values and help us continue being a warm, welcoming place for the whole community.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook a variety of meals, snacks, and baked goods for café service.
* Present food to a high standard while keeping portions consistent and affordable.
* Contribute to menu planning with a focus on seasonal, sustainable, and community-friendly food.
* Manage stock, place orders, and minimise food waste.
* Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in line with regulations.
* Work closely with staff and volunteers, offering support and guidance in the kitchen.
* Help create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for everyone who visits Hope Street Café.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience preparing and cooking food for groups in a café, kitchen, or similar setting.
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, supportive team.
- Reliable, organised, and able to manage time effectively.
- Friendly and approachable, with a passion for food and community.
Desirable
- Food hygiene certification (Level 2 or above) – training can be provided.
- Experience working alongside volunteers or in community-based projects.
- Interest in sustainable food, local sourcing, and reducing waste.
