About the job
The R&D Data Access team is looking for a Software Developer who'll work on standardizing and simplifying data source connectivity on the Viya platform for SAS solutions.
Our team works heavily with third party databases requiring us to stay up to date on industry standards, use latest technology, and be creative with our implementations.
As an Associate Software Developer, you will:
1. Design and develop high-quality, testable, and scalable software solutions.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across R&D and product management to ensure timely and successful delivery.
3. Participate in project scoping, scheduling, and progress tracking; proactively identifying, reporting, and resolving blockers.
4. Ensure code quality through comprehensive testing (unit, integration, regression) and close collaboration with SDETs.
5. Maintain accountability for the full software lifecycle, including support for internal and external consumers.
6. Contribute to technical documentation in partnership with technical writers.
7. Embrace continuous improvement and innovation in tools, processes, and code quality
8. Develop and maintain automated systems dedicated to ensuring quality assurance and performance analysis.
9. Provide comprehensive support to internal users regarding API and software utilization through coding examples, detailed documentation, and informative presentations.
10. Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required qualifications
12. Interest in working in software development.
13. Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field.
14. Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, Rust or C/C++.
15. Interest in a role predominantly programming in C
16. Basic understanding of concepts related to data structures, and programming practices
17. Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and change direction quickly

Preferred Qualifications
20. Knowledge of SQL to query, analyze, and manipulate data across relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
21. Knowledge of SAS products, solutions, and programming language.
Work Location
22. Hybrid Role: Expected to be onsite at SAS Glasgow offices few days a week.
