Aerivo has just been acquired by Modaxo, and we are embedding into a new group environment while maintaining momentum in a fast-paced tech market. Aerivo staff are mainly based in the UK, but with a sizeable proportion of staff also based in France, China, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Malaysia, and so the role represents a real opportunity for someone with aspirations to grow and develop their capability in a truly international HR environment. You’ll be our sole dedicated HR lead (supported by Modaxo HR and in-country providers), owning everything from recruitment, employee relations, contracts, payroll coordination and benefits to performance, reward, learning & development, and UK visa compliance. This role is ideal for someone who wants to accelerate their career by stepping into a broad, complex remit with genuine visibility and the chance to make a measurable difference quickly. What success looks like HR operations run smoothly day-to-day (contracts, payroll inputs, ER, policies, records, reporting). UK visa/sponsor compliance is tight: tracking, renewals, right-to-work, audit trails, manager guidance. Managers feel better equipped: clearer people processes, practical coaching, and improved confidence handling performance/absence/ER. A pragmatic plan is in place for training and capability building (technical and people leadership), aligned to business priorities. Aerivo is progressing through the “embed into Modaxo” journey with clear communications, good employee engagement, and minimal disruption. Key responsibilities 1) HR leadership & business partnering (UK international) Act as the primary HR partner to the GM and leadership team; provide clear, commercially-grounded advice. Balance hands-on delivery with forward planning; identify risks early and bring options/solutions. Build trusted relationships across the business with a visible, approachable HR presence particularly in Manchester HQ. 2) Employee relations & case management Provide guidance and support to managers and employees across the full ER spectrum: absence, conduct, performance, grievances, disciplinaries, flexible working, family leave, restructures (as applicable). Ensure consistent, fair outcomes with strong documentation and compliant processes. Support a positive employee voice through our staff forum approach (we do not recognise trade unions). 3) Recruitment, onboarding & workforce changes Own end-to-end hiring for UK and international roles (directly and via Modaxo / agencies / local providers as appropriate). Improve onboarding to ensure fast integration, clarity of expectations and strong early engagement. Ensure all pre-employment checks are completed (right to work, references, background screening where required). 4) UK visa sponsorship & right-to-work compliance Manage and monitor the employee visa population: expiry tracking, renewals, role/salary change implications, and employee/manager guidance. Maintain robust sponsor compliance practices and audit trails; liaise with immigration advisers/legal counsel where needed. Ensure right-to-work checks are conducted correctly and on time, with compliant record keeping. 5) Payroll & benefits coordination (UK and oversight internationally) Coordinate monthly UK payroll inputs with Finance and payroll provider(s) to ensure accuracy and deadlines are met. Oversee benefits administration (e.g., pension, insurances, wellbeing perks) including joiners/leavers, renewals, and invoices/approvals. Liaise with in-country HR/payroll providers (e.g., UK France, Morocco, KSA, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China) to ensure appropriate support and timely resolution of issues. 6) Contracts, policies, HR administration & data Draft/issue contracts, variations, letters, and maintain a well-controlled document suite. Keep HR policies and practices up to date (UK focus, plus alignment to Modaxo standards where appropriate). Maintain accurate employee records in line with UK GDPR/EU GDPR and confidentiality expectations. Produce regular HR reporting/insights (e.g., headcount, turnover, recruitment metrics, visa status, ER themes, training activity). 7) Performance management, reward & manager capability Run and improve performance management: objective setting, reviews, probation management, and practical guidance for managers. Support pay/reward activities (salary reviews, benchmarking inputs, internal equity considerations) in collaboration with GM/Finance/Modaxo as required. Coach a mixed population of new and experienced managers —hands-on, pragmatic support to raise the baseline of people leadership. 8) Learning & development (paced for a software business) Identify skills gaps with leaders and create an actionable training plan (technical learning, onboarding pathways, compliance, and soft-skills). Source and manage external providers where needed; enable internal knowledge-sharing where effective. Embed “everyday development” practices that fit a fast-moving technology environment. 9) Integration & change (Modaxo embedding) Support the people side of integration: communications, process adoption, policy alignment, engagement listening, and change impact management. Act as a calm, credible point of reference for employees during a period of transition. Key relationships Internal: GM, leadership team, Finance, line managers/team leads, all employees, staff forum representatives Group/External: Modaxo HR (regional and functional), payroll provider(s), immigration counsel, recruitment partners, in-country HR service providers (France/Greece and other locations as applicable) Skills & experience Essential Strong, generalist HR experience covering ER, recruitment, performance, HR administration and manager support. Up-to-date working knowledge of UK employment law and practical ER case handling. Demonstrable experience supporting and improving manager capability through coaching and pragmatic guidance. Confidence working at pace, independently prioritising, and being accountable as the “go-to” HR person. Excellent written work (letters, contracts, policies) and high attention to detail/confidentiality. Experience working with distributed teams and/or multiple geographies (directly or via providers). Highly desirable Hands-on experience with UK work visas / sponsor compliance (or strong evidence you can pick this up quickly with external support). Experience in a software/technology or similarly fast-moving environment. Familiarity with HRIS/ATS tools (e.g., Workday or similar). Nice to have: familiarity with French employment legislation/practice (or experience partnering effectively with French HR advisers for permanent employees in France).
