Job description
Position overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Scientist to play a crucial role in our Research & Development team. This role will focus on the development of machine learning models, as well as creating intuitive and visually appealing front-end applications for our data-driven solutions.
Key responsibilities:
1. Model building and evaluation:
2. Develop and implement advanced machine learning models to solve complex problems within the water industry
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and preprocess data, perform feature engineering, and ensure data quality
4. Evaluate model performance, fine-tune hyperparameters, and optimize models for accuracy and efficiency
5. Stay up to date with the latest developments in machine learning and data science techniques
6. Front-end development:
7. Design and develop interactive and user-friendly front-end applications to showcase data-driven insights and model predictions
8. Create visually appealing data visualisations, dashboards, and reports using modern front-end technologies
9. Ensure responsive design and cross-browser compatibility for a seamless user experience
10. Data integration and deployment:
11. Integrate machine learning models into production systems and deploy them for real-time or batch processing
12. Work closely with DevOps and software engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment and monitor model performance in production environments
13. Documentation and communication:
14. Document model development processes, algorithms, and codebase to facilitate knowledge sharing and future enhancements
15. Collaborate with team members to define project requirements and deliverables
16. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively
Qualifications and experience
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field
* Proven experience in building and deploying machine learning models
* Strong proficiency in Python and front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
* Knowledge of data visualisation libraries and tools (e.g. Matplotlib, Plotly, Dash)
* Experience with database systems and SQL for data retrieval and manipulation
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure) and containerisation (e.g. Docker)
