Job Description
Overall purpose of the job
To contribute to the work undertaken by the centre on behalf of CAFCASS, the Local Authority, independent/voluntary agencies, and private clients by
supervising Family Time in Buzz and at family friendly venues.
Main Tasks
Ensure that the child/young person’s safety and wellbeing are paramount.
Work from a trauma informed perspective
Be prepared for sessions, taking responsibility for the set up of the room, reading the family plan, having a blank report ready to use, liaising with parents re arrival times and greeting families on arrival.
Observe families interactions in a non obtrusive, supportive, professional and friendly way.
Work within the guidelines drawn up for each specific session including ensuring risk assessments are closely followed and updated when needed.
To recognise any risks of harm and intervene to ensure the safety of the child
To use child friendly consultation methods to find out children’s views on the service, any ideas for improvement or changes and also to find out what toys/equipment/activities they would like .
To liaise with parents during sessions remaining supportive, kind and impartial and to offer consultation opportunities to find out their views on the service.
Maintain accurate written records /reports following the relevant procedure, ensuring client confidentiality and deadlines for completion are met.
Contribute to assessment/court reports, meetings as and when required
To work within the parameters of all Buzz ’s policies and values
Immediately report any concerns of a child protection nature in accordance with policy and procedure
Participate in training and supervision opportunities including smart target setting to ensure development of your own practice and attend team meetings as required .

Qualifications and Experience
Essential (E) Desirable (D)
NVQ Level 3 in Child Care or Health and Social Care or equivalent
E
GCSE English Grade C or above or equivalent
E
Experience of working with children/families
E
Experience of working with people who have experienced trauma
D
Experience of working with children and adults with additional needs
D
Knowledge and Skills
Essential (E) Desirable (D)
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
E
Knowledge of the Children Act 1989
D
Some knowledge of child development
E
Good recording and report writing skills
E
Ability to diffuse situations calmly
E
Have the necessary skills to make an assessment

Ability to confidently work alone

Ability to work within and contribute positively to a team
