Graduate Learning Mentor

Want practical primary experience before teacher training?

Support early learners and pupils with additional needs so lessons run smoothly.

*** Graduate Learning Mentor
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £80 - £100 per day (term time only)
*** ‘Good’ primary school, Willenhall
*** Support within EYFS and SEN

The Role:
You will work across Nursery and Reception with targeted SEN support. You will set up and rotate continuous provision, prepare simple resources and keep areas tidy so children can access activities independently. You will run short adult-led tasks in phonics, early number and fine motor skills, then link gains back into play. You will use visual timetables and now next prompts to guide transitions, model clear language at children’s level and coach turn taking and sharing. You will provide calm 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs, capture quick observations, update intervention trackers and agree next steps with the class teacher and SENCO. You will follow behaviour and safeguarding procedures and support daily routines at drop-off, snack, outdoor learning and home time.

The Candidate & Requirements:
You are patient, organised and clear in your communication. You follow plans closely, spot triggers early and adapt without fuss so pupils re-engage and grow independence.

1. Degree, 2:2 or above in any subject.
2. Communication, confident written and spoken English.
3. Enhanced DBS, held already or willingness to obtain.
4. Desire to work in education or with children, strong interest in EYFS, SEN and pupil wellbeing.
5. Experience working with children, relevant experience is desirable but not essential.

The School:
This ‘Good’ Willenhall primary is multi-form entry with predictable EYFS routines from arrival to home time. Indoor and outdoor areas are well resourced with clear zones for role play, construction, small world, mark making and sensory exploration. Phonics runs daily with matched reading practice. Early maths follows small, connected steps with practical models and frequent retrieval so methods stay consistent across classes. Inclusion is embedded through plan do review cycles, quick access to visual supports and regulation spaces, and regular check-ins with the SENCO. New colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly bite-size CPD and short coaching drop ins with precise, usable next moves.
