The Role
We are looking for a Quality Manager to oversee Electricity North West's Capital Programme across the North West of England. You will ensure robust quality management systems and compliance throughout the design, construction, commissioning, and operational phases. This is a key role driving continuous improvement and fostering a quality-focused culture across projects and operational sites.
Key Responsibilities of the Quality Manager:
• Develop and manage quality assurance systems in line with ISO 9001 and sector standards.
• Conduct site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
• Manage non-conformance reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative actions.
• Advise on, produce, and maintain quality documentation (quality plans, inspection and test plans, audit reports).
• Provide quality-related training and mentorship to teams and contractors.
• Act as the main contact point for quality matters with regulators and stakeholders.
• Lead quality activities and engage with project managers, operations, procurement, contractors, and other stakeholders to meet objectives.
• Represent projects during audits by internal or external bodies.
• Review project schedules to ensure timely implementation of quality programmes.
• Assign work and prepare effectiveness reports on quality system implementation.
• Lead investigations into quality issues, conduct root cause analyses, and ensure corrective actions are executed.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience of the Quality Manager:
Essential:
• Recognised qualification in Quality Management or Engineering (HNC/HND/Degree level).
• Extensive experience in quality management within power distribution networks, manufacturing, generation, or large-scale industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and relevant quality standards and regulations.
• Excellent auditing and inspection skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Exceptional organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
• IT literate, with experience using quality management software and reporting tools.
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel across the North West.
• Extensive experience in utilities, construction, or manufacturing.
Desirable:
• Experience as Lead Engineer on major projects or advanced expertise in a related sector.
