Overview

Join to apply for the Human Resources Manager role at Severn Wye

Severn Wye is looking for an HR professional to join our dynamic and innovative organisation that changes the way people use energy, to cut costs and reduce carbon emissions.

About Severn Wye

Severn Wye’s vision is a stable climate with energy for all. In practice, one of the ways we deliver meaningful change is by tackling fuel poverty, supporting residents in vulnerable circumstances with advice and practical support to keep them warm and well in their homes. Alongside these advice and support services, we provide a range of energy-efficiency services for homes and businesses. We operate grant-funded programmes of all sizes in addition to paid-for services.

Innovative ideas and long-lasting, sustainable solutions are the hallmark of Severn Wye’s community energy work, where we engage entire communities to create and co-produce their own energy solutions. And our innovative pyrolysis plant in Cheshire, Severn Wye Biochar, is at the cutting edge of carbon-capture and clean-power generation.

The role

Our numbers have increased from 35 to almost 100 colleagues in the past few years and we need the right person to join us and ensure the HR work we have been doing continues. The role of HR Manager is to ensure colleagues have the support they need to achieve their best. You will be responsible for managing the recruitment and induction of new employees, monitoring their training and career development and developing the HR processes and systems to allow teams to perform and have the greatest impact. In addition, you will provide confidential executive support and guidance, advise on HR strategy and work with colleagues on GDPR, safeguarding and EDI initiatives.

If you come to work with Severn Wye, you’ll be joining a profit-for-purpose charity that’s committed to change, for our clients, communities and the planet. We pride ourselves on being a flexible, empathetic and inspirational place to work. You’ll be working alongside colleagues who all have the same motivation; to make a real difference to people’s lives. If you’d like to join a growing organisation that’s at the forefront of tackling fuel poverty and climate change, then why not apply? We’d love to hear from you.

Application deadline: Tuesday 16 September. Interviews from 22 September.

This role will include:

* Recruitment and Staffing: Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent. Manage the end to end hiring process including role descriptions, advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
* Employee Relations: Act as a primary point of contact for employee concerns, promoting a positive work culture. Mediate conflicts and provide guidance on workplace issues.
* Performance Management: Manage probation reviews and provide guidance to managers for annual appraisals. Design and oversee performance management, setting clear goals, evaluating employee performance, and supporting professional development.
* Compensation and Benefits: Ensure competitive compensation and benefits packages. Lead monthly payroll processes and coordinate with finance to manage salary administration.
* Training and Development: Identify training needs and develop or facilitate programs to support employee skill development, compliance training, and leadership development.
* Policy Development and Compliance: Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies.
* HR Strategy and Planning: Collaborate with and advise senior management to align HR strategies with organisational goals. Support initiatives around company culture, employee engagement, retention and the organisation’s compliance with its legal obligations.
* Data and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate day-to-day HR records including holiday and sickness, together with reporting including key metrics such as turnover, employee satisfaction, and diversity, using data to improve HR processes.

* Executive and management support: Provide HR advice and support to the Executive and management including advice, guidance and training to managers on complex and sensitive staff issues.
