Food Technologist – Edinburgh

Alexander Steele is working with a highly regarded food manufacturer based in Edinburgh to recruit a Food Technologist to join their growing technical team.

The Role:
This is a hands-on position offering a diverse mix of responsibilities across compliance, product development, and sustainability. You’ll work closely with a highly experienced Technical Consultant and production management team, gaining exposure to all aspects of food manufacturing in a high-standard, BRCGS Grade AA facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with food safety, legal, and quality standards
Maintain and update internal systems, including BRCGS and Soil Association Organic certification
Manage quality systems such as HACCP and TACCP
Conduct internal audits and support external audits
Assist with new product development, from concept through to launch
Support the business in tracking emissions and contributing to sustainability planning
Handle customer technical queries and ensure technical documentation is accurate and up to date
Communicate relevant legal and industry updates internally
Contribute to technical training and management reviews
The Ideal Candidate:
A degree in Food Quality Management or a related field is preferred (but not essential with relevant experience)
Experience in a similar role within a food manufacturing environment (during or post-study)
Familiarity with BRCGS standards and food labelling requirements
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach
Eagerness to learn and take initiative within a small, fast-paced team
Passion for working in a high-quality food manufacturing environment
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum + Benefits
